Barry Levy has done it again!

We at MonkeyPaw Media have had the pleasure of working with this creative powerhouse on two short animated projects. "Division Denim" premiered at the 'Zero Film Festival' in 2008 to a warm reception. This inspired Barry to move forward and approach us to assist him with his second short film "The Hollywood Adventures of Freedom The Polar Bear".

Working with Barry has always been a pleasure and this time around our own Choom Lam headed up this short almost completely unassisted, with Barry. Her uniquely beautiful art direction was something that really set this short apart from its predecessor "Division Denim". Scanning in real world items for precise textures instead of hunting them down online, is just one example of how she retained her esthetic on this piece.

So Congratulations Barry, you earned it!

Tai and Jason made the trip out to Ottawa for the international animation festival. They reported back with wild tales of parties, amazing films, and lots of new friends. Tai had so much fun he cried when he had to leave! Hopefully next year we can all go.

Skunk Fu!

Our animation production on Season 1 of Skunk Fu! has officially wrapped and the show has begun airing on weekdays at 3.45/3.50 on the BBC and BBC1 and on Saturdays at 6pm on the CBBC Channel, It is also airing on ABC Australia. We would like to thank everyone that worked on it for making it such a great show and smooth production. Hopefully it will start airing in North America soon! Until then, check out the official Skunk Fu! website here

Sooooo, July 1st was the unofficial "official" 1 year anniversary of MonkeyPaw Media. How time flies when you are busy working! Here is a stop-motion short a friend and I made. There are no credits or anything, just madness. I did the acting at the start, he did the gore and gunplay, I composited the jpegs with Final Cut Pro on a mac, and he did the audio... Oh yeah the audio isn't mastered yet, so it's a little patchy...

Yay! 2007! And what a start for us at MPM! First day back to work after the holidays, I get to work around 9:15, to rain pouring into our kitchen area! Luckily for us the roofer came and the sky cleared up and no damage. I guess you have to pay to be on the top floor!

Today's drawing is a portrait(caricature?) of me by Jason's daughter Oceana, age 5. Also, I posted some links to some of our artists personal pages. Check them out! Anyways, I hope everyone had some awesome relaxing holidays, now get back to work!

So! Where to begin....With the webpage almost officially launched and Christmas only four days away it is an exciting time here at MPM! Lots of projects getting finished up and lots of new ones on the horizon. But enough about work, this page is hopefully going to be a little bit of fun, a place where the staff can show a bit of personality outside of the corporate image of MPM. I thought I would post a few drawings that have been laying around the studio on people's desks and so on. Of course, a lot of drawings that get done around the studio are caricatures so maybe some of you will recognize a few. The first drawing is by Jason Campbell, and the last two are by Joanna Chan. Merry Christmas and the obligatory Happy New Years!!
